The recipe for a warm Valentine’s Day
Want to do something romantic for your loved one for Valentine’s Day, but lack the inspiration? Here are some warm tips for that extra appreciation for your sweetheart, all centered around the fireplace.
-What gift should I give him/her? They have it all! – Yes, for many of us that is true. In a busy day, perhaps the perfect gift is to set aside time especially with your loved one.
1. Monday morning valentine breakfast
Get up early and light the fire, and make them a simple but sophisticated avocado toast. This is a quick and great option for a Monday morning valentine breakfast surprise.
This is an easy, classic flavor and you make it as simple as this:
Toast two rustic slices of bread (sourdough, wheat, Italian or french loaf). Slice avocado, and drizzle it with extra-virgin olive oil. Add some salt, his/her favourite seasoning, and freshly chopped basil, parsley or sproutssprinkled on top. Add some red pepper flakes if they like a spicy kick. Pour a glass of good apple juice or a warm cup of tea and wake your beloved with a breakfast by the fire.
2. A romantic massage by the fire
Light the fire, so the room is nice and warm. Make a soft place to lay down in front of the fireplace. Set the romantic scene by turning down the lights, light some candles and put on some romantic music. Find some massage oil and give each other a nice body massage. Set aside plenty of time. Body contact releases «happiness hormones» - endorphins - and is a good way to be close to each other.
3. Watch a romantic movie
How about looking up that old romantic Before Sunrise, Music and Lyrics, The Wedding Singer, Notting Hill, Titanic, Love Actually or even the classic Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the lead roles?
Maybe you have a movie that is "yours" - maybe the one you saw on the first date together? Curl up under a blanket on the couch and enjoy yourselves!
– And don’t forget to set the romantic scene with flickering flames from the fireplace.
4. “Cabin at home”
Cocoa and marshmallows: Everyone loves chocolate - and even better in the company of your loved one. Boil a pot of delicious cocoa, pour into some large cups and put some delicious marshmallows on top.
Sit on the floor in front of the fireplace, or on the couch under a blanket. Just chat and enjoy each other's company, or if you are a little more fond of games – play card games or other simple “cabin games”. Setting aside time just for being close to your special someone. <3
